Sayed Abdelhafiz, Al Ahly's director of football, spoke following the team’s 4-2 victory over Al Masry in the Egyptian Premier League.

In his post-match interview, Abdelhafiz gave his opinion on some of the reasons that might have impacted the team’s performances in this season’s league campaign.

“We faced a lot of difficult circumstances throughout the season, which caused us to drop many points in our journey to defend the title.”

“On the contrary, we performed well in the other competitions that we played in. We are able to win the CAF Champions League title for two consecutive times; in addition to, winning the bronze medal in the previous FIFA Club World Cup. All these achievements are a result of the hard work done by our coaching staff and the players.”

“Looking back on how the league went, we won’t accept to play with the same condensed schedule of games that we had this season. However, we also have to change the way we dealt with several league games, as we lost a lot of easy points.”

“I think we paid much attention than we should to this season’s CAF Champions League competition and that negatively impacted us in the league. We will take that into consideration when we begin preparing for the next season.”

Finally, Abdelhafiz concluded his interview by calling for equal treatment by the Egyptian Football Association when they plan for our upcoming games in the Egyptian Cup.
